Our History

The El- Samanoudi Studios were created by Mahmoud El-Samanoudi in the early 90's; at first facilitating space for outdoor shooting. In 1995 the idea of converting one of the former farm houses into an indoor studio was realized, giving an area of approximately 40*10*4m. Meanwhile outdoor decorations were constructed. "Lan Aaish Fi Gebab Abi" (I will not live in my fathers skin), one of the most successful Egyptian TV series, was filmed using our whole facilities. Two years after, in 1997, the indoor studio was rebuilt giving more space (30*17*7m) and thus becoming one of the biggest studios in Egypt. 1998 witnessed a change in the outdoor decorations as it was turned into an Islamic city creating an enchanting atmosphere of medieval Islamic culture. This location witnessed the filming of the "El-Harafish" series, based on a novel written by Nobel Prize laureate Naguib Mahfouz. As part of our policy to help create an enchanting and comfortable environment, a new noise reduced air-conditioning was installed, enabling work all through the year and especially in the hot summer months. With all that we offer more and more Producers and Directors are willing to shoot their works at El-Samanoudi Studios.

In January 2001 Mahmoud El-Samanoudi passed away leaving the studio to his son Ibrahim El-Samanoudi. At that time some finacial difficulties required a complete restructrimg of the Finances and Administration of El-Samanoudi Studios. Due to the restructering only minimal new investment have been made the last few years. It is planned for 2007-2008 to create luxury rooms for VIPS and completly renovate the changing rooms and the kitchen.
